First Visit Experience

Brief Paperwork

Once you arrive, we will have some patient forms for you to fill out. The printed material gives us general data about yourself and your condition. Soul Purpose Chiropractic offers our patient forms online so they can be finished in the accommodation of your own home or office. (patient forms found below)

Counsel

Once the printed material has been finished, you will have a counsel with Dr. Rosseland DC to talk about your well being related issues, thoughts and concerns.

History and Examination

With a specific end goal to figure out what your health needs are, Dr. Rosseland will pose different inquiries identified with your well being. Next, various tests will be performed to figure out which parts of your spine and nervous system may need attention.

Home Instructions

Before leaving, patients may be given directions on specific exercises or methodology to perform at home. This could incorporate ice or warmth application directions, specific types of exercises or stretches, and/or other physical medicine modalities.

Plan Your Next Appointment

Frequently asked questions about chiropractic care

Yes. Even if you went to a doctor or hospital after your accident, most medical personnel are not trained in structural trauma and cannot necessarily identify it. Doctors of Chiropractic however, are trained specifically in soft tissue damage as related to the neck and back. In addition, our office has successfully diagnosed and treated many whiplash injuries. I suggest that if you are still in pain that you come into our office for an evaluation.

Of course, once is better than not going at all. But spine and nerve stress will continue to build up as before. If the stress is not relieved, your body and overall health will suffer.

Yes. Although symptoms may not be present at this time, a whiplash left untreated may later develop into disc degeneration and arthritis.

A subluxation refers to a spinal or peripheral joint that is relatively immobile or out of place. Subluxations create an imbalance in the spine, affecting the way our body and brain communicate with one another, irritating nerves and blood vessels and possibly causing pain and dysfunction in muscles and organs. Vertebral subluxations, misaligned spinal bones that affect your nerves, are very common and dangerous. They can affect your balance, spinal health, posture, resistance to disease and internal organ health (including your brain). Vertebral subluxations prevent you from functioning at your best an make you more prone to physical, emotional and chemical stress, leading to sickness, weakness, fatigue and early aging.

Accidents, injuries and inherited spinal weaknesses are common causes of subluxations. Other causes include poor sleeping habits, poor posture, obesity, stress, a sedentary lifestyle and too little rest.

Not always. A subluxation is like a dental cavity – you may have it a long time before symptoms appear. That’s why periodic spinal checkups are so important.

Chiropractors treat subluxations with a healing technique called spinal adjustment, a procedure that involves applying specific, short, quick thrusts to return vertebrae (the bones that compose the spine and protect the spinal cord) to their proper position. They may also use other tools and techniques, and will explain these to you at the time.

Most chiropractic adjustments are painless; in fact, the adjustment may feel good and can be relieving. If you’ve had a recent injury, however, adjustments can irritate inflamed tissue and cause some discomfort. Some people also experience odd sensations in their extremities after adjustments. This is a normal reaction to the relieving of pressure on nerves and is usually no cause for concern.

While every chiropractor has his or her own preference, people of all ages are candidates for chiropractic treatment. Even babies can have subluxations, due to the rigors of birth. In general, it’s best to treat children’s subluxations early, as they interfere with nerves that control developing muscles and organs. With an early checkup, your chiropractor can detect these problems while they’re easy to correct.

Your chiropractor can recognize and detect problem areas in your spine before they develop into problem conditions. Chiropractic adjustments may help to maintain or support a healthy spine, and maintenance spinal care programs, which may include advice on posture, nutrition and exercise, can effectively prevent pain. Regular checkups will also ensure that small stresses on the spine don’t become major misalignments.
