Questions after a car accident
Should I see a chiropractor after a car accident?
If you were in a crash, an evaluation within the first few days is a reasonable step even if you feel fine. Whiplash and soft tissue injuries often do not hurt right away. Dr. Rosseland examines the neck and spine for the kinds of injury a crash can cause, documents what he finds, and tells you plainly whether chiropractic care is appropriate or whether you should see another provider first.
How soon can I be seen?
Call the day you decide. Same-day appointments for new accident patients are offered when available, so call (520) 444-1937 early in the day. If you have symptoms that need emergency care, such as loss of consciousness, severe headache, numbness or weakness, chest pain or trouble breathing, go to the emergency room first and come in after you are cleared.
What happens at the first visit?
Dr. Rosseland asks about the accident and your symptoms, then examines your neck and spine for the kinds of injury a crash can cause. He explains what he finds in plain words and whether chiropractic care is appropriate. If X-rays are needed, they are referred out.
What if the pain started days after the crash?
That is common. Soft tissue injuries can take a day or more to show up. Delayed neck pain, stiffness, headaches and back pain after a crash are evaluated the same way. Come in when they show up and tell us the date of the accident.
How does a lien arrangement work?
If you were injured in an auto accident, you may qualify for treatment under a lien arrangement. A lien allows a provider to get paid from money recovered through a qualifying injury or auto accident claim. Contact our office to discuss eligibility, whether an attorney is needed, and the payment terms that would apply to your care.
What about insurance after a car accident?
Our office does not accept health insurance. We accept cash, credit and debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. For auto accident patients, bring your auto insurance card, declarations page and claim number so the office can review your options.
What will my care cost?
The cost of care depends on the care recommended for your individual needs. Contact our office to discuss eligibility, whether an attorney is needed, and the payment terms that would apply to your care.
How is whiplash treated?
Care is planned from your evaluation. It can include chiropractic adjustments and therapeutic procedures: EMS, interferential, ultrasound, shockwave, heat, ice and myofascial, muscle and trigger point work.
Will my treatment records support my claim?
Examination findings, the care plan and your progress are documented at each visit, and those records can be sent to your insurer or attorney when they are requested. Clear records are one reason to be evaluated early.
